The Clay Haven gets funding from The National Lottery Community Fund
We’re delighted to announce that The Clay Haven has been given a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund to carry on bringing a wide range of clay workshops and courses at affordable prices for the people of Liskeard.
We plan to use the funding to broaden the range of courses available to help bring people together, reduce isolation and improve wellbeing through creativity.
Some parts of our programme over the next 12 months will be tailored to meet the needs of a specific group within our community and these will be either heavily subsidised or even free. Our regular workshops will remain at affordable prices.
We hope this will strengthen what The Clay Haven was set up for, helping individuals and families facing increased pressures feel supported, valued and included.
Many thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund, and Lottery Players, for supporting The Clay Haven at Liskeard.
The opening of The Clay Haven in Liskeard this weekend proved to be a great success, drawing in visitors from across the community eager to get hands-on with clay. Throughout the weekend, the studio buzzed with creativity as people got to try their hand at pottery and sculpting.
From complete beginners to more experienced makers, everyone found something to enjoy in the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The space quickly came alive with laughter, conversation, as well as clay being shaped and transformed.
Over the course of the sessions, people crafted an impressive variety of pieces, including mugs, small sculptures, and imaginative decorative ‘founder tiles’ which will be on permanent display on the wall once they have been fired and glazed.
Friendly guidance and encouragement helped newcomers feel confident, while more seasoned attendees enjoyed refining their techniques. The sense of accomplishment was clear as people proudly admired their creations, many already looking forward to returning for future sessions.
The weekend not only celebrated the opening of a new creative hub but also highlighted the strong community spirit that The Clay Haven aims to nurture going forward.

Decoration is underway!
Work has started to transform the empty unit at The Cattlemarket into The Clay Haven.
The artwork has been inspired by the beautiful countryside in the area, including Bodmin Moor and of course Cornwall’s very own ‘Clay Country’
The aim is to make The Clay Haven a really warm and inviting place to visit and relax and inspire your pottery projects.

We have the keys!
A really exciting day as the keys for the units were handed over to Claire and work can get underway to transform the two units at The Cattlemarket in Liskeard into The Clay Haven.
At the moment it’s very much a blank canvas, but over the next month work will get underway to decorate the new workshop and kit it out ready for the first sessions to begin in April.
The larger unit will become the workshop, with the smaller unit next door the drying and kiln room.
Watch this space for more updates coming soon!
